Hands-on Strategy Development for Startups and SMBs

“If you neglect the day-to-day business, you die today. If you neglect strategy, you die tomorrow.” Wherever this quote comes from, and even if it sounds a little harsh, there is something to it. It is your responsibility as management to think long-term and sometimes make tough decisions. It's all about: Where to play? And how might we be able to win?

Strategic work is work on the future that starts today

Contrary to what people may think, strategy work does not mean appealing to the motivation of employees with fluffy-sounding slogans and then hoping for the best. Nor does it mean working endlessly in an unstructured way and ending up slapping umpteen key figures onto hundreds of PowerPoint slides. And you already know: "Nobody will ever read nor understand these slides....including myself!"

I support you in starting pragmatically with a lean and structured process to formulate your strategy in such a way that it is actionable and provides clarity, orientation for well-informed decisions.

Strategy Sprint

Many “strategic” initiatives come to nothing because they lack the strategic foundation and commitment of the relevant stakeholders.

In the Strategy Sprint, you jointly develop insights and a vision for the future in a lean strategy process in order to set the course for future developments. The content of the Strategy Sprint is tailored to your needs, e.g.

  • Product strategy
  • Growth strategy
  • Brand strategy
  • Overarching corporate strategy
  • Innovation strategy

It is often worth stepping out of the daily routine and consciously taking time and space for important questions as management.

  • What does our future corporate strategy look like?
  • What vision do we have for our company?
  • What product strategy are we pursuing?

Thinking these questions through to the end, answering them together and preparing them for the teams in an understandable way is an important part of our responsibility as a management team.

OKR (Objectives & Key Results)

In some contexts, it is important to create a safe space for strategic issues. The OKR framework can be helpful and effective for this.

Ok Sandy, why should we choose you?

I often find that management teams bore or even confuse their employees with generic “strategy” slogans. Not because they are stupid or bad managers. But often simply because they don't know how to develop a meaningful strategy. There are so many methods out there that can be overwhelming. In my experience, it pays off to start pragmatically with a lean process.

If we work together will probably come down to whether you like me or not 😉 Let's meet for a virtual coffee and find out!

You want some facts right now? OK, here we go:

  • I have worked for 10 years in two startups in key account management and online marketing as a team lead and know how important and effective offsites can be
  • Since 2019, I have been supporting companies intensively in their strategy work, often with OKR (Objectives & Key Results).
  • I am not dogmatic - if something is not right for you, I will not impose it on you. I also like to approach things with a healthy pragmatism.
  • I provide my services in German and English

Sounds good? Still have questions? Let's talk!

Getting started is better than being perfect.
